Sadly, it is so. But only temporarily! Being Henry David will be available again (as soon as possible), and it will feature an exciting update: A NEW CHAPTER to satisfy new and old readers alike who repeatedly ask: WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?
Why is BHD (temporarily) out of print? In lieu of bankruptcy, my former publisher has done some restructuring, and as a part of that, they’ve reverted book rights back to a number of authors. I am one of them.
However, I have been over-the-moon DELIGHTED to hear recently from several teachers who want to purchase class sets for their students. Apparently, these fabulous teachers communicate with one another via educational forums and have been talking up Being Henry David as an exceptional way to teach kids about Henry David Thoreau and transcendentalism within an engaging contemporary story.
All of this leads me to this revelation: Being Henry David must get back into print–SOON! I’m currently exploring the option of signing with a new publisher, but if that doesn’t pan out quickly, I’m going to move ahead with self-publishing.
And as mentioned above, although many readers have been gunning for me to write a sequel so they can find out what happened next (Did Hank/Danny and Hailey get together? Did Hailey forgive him for lying about his identity when he had amnesia? Did the street kids Jack and Nessa ever find their family and safety?), I’ve determined I can wrap up all these loose ends with a new bonus chapter at the end of the re-issued book. I’m so excited to share it with you!
